We see a little girl fill with excitement every evening in anticipation of her mother telling her a story. The picture is painted of a cosy family snuggle time in bed where magical stories are told! You could almost feel how snuggly and warm this special time was and inspired me to maybe make bedtime stories more cosy for my children!

Q: What inspired you to write this book?

A: The life of a single working mom can get busy–sometimes too busy. It is important to highlight that no matter how busy working moms are, we are never too busy to show our children how much we love them. A balance between simple gestures and spending meaningful quality time together is a recipe for a loving bond between parent and child.

Q: What sets your book apart from other picture books?

A: My book highlights the love between a mother and daughter. Families are unique, as are their daily lives and traditions. It is important to recognize and praise the diverse traditions that exist. A quilt can be just a quilt, or it can be a collection of memories and stories waiting to be shared.

Q: What is your favorite scene in the book?

A: There are so many parts of this story that I enjoy. When Kalianne has the self-realization that everything she does is important, it melts my heart. As a mom and educator, I love watching a child explore a new skill or toy, or face one of their fears. It is important to engage in attentive listening with a child, as the world seen through their eyes is always a BIG adventure.

A:

Q: What are some of your family traditions?

A: For as long as I can remember, holidays and family get-togethers have been held at my parents' home. My parents always put together a delicious and enormous feast. I usually contribute a homemade chocolate dessert. "Better to have too much than not enough," is my mom's mantra. My sisters and I always come home with leftovers. Tupperware is a must!
